Senior EIA Consultant

 Opportunity 


JCTR is seeking a Senior Consultant in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). 

The role is coordination of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process on multiple projects directly for JCTR’s Clients. 


The Role 


The role will centre on authoring EIA Screening and Scoping Reports as well as managing the production of Environmental Statements.   

You will be working closely with industry specialists, such as Ecologists and Archaeologists. You will work collaboratively with these specialists and use you EIA expertise to both advise clients on EIA strategy and to co-ordinate the EIA process including delivery of key milestone deliverables such as Screening Requests, Scoping Requests and Environmental Statements. 

By developing a clear understanding of our business needs you will be contributing to the continued dynamic growth of the company, bringing innovative EIA thinking, knowledge and project skills to use on real world projects. 


About Us 


JCTR is a young, dynamic and quickly expanding consultancy, providing critical services in two core areas: 

  • Environmental Impact Assessment management and coordination for clients delivering  projects in renewables, conservation, leisure and infrastructure. 
  • Programme management and delivery of landscape scale and catchment scale habitat improvements such as wetland restoration and creation projects.

This opportunity will allow for home / remote working and working on site and in partner / Client offices and will necessitate some travel, as dictated by projects and business development. 


About You 


The successful candidate should be highly motivated, possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills. 


Minimum requirements: 

  • Hold a degree in a relevant subject. 
  • Demonstrable proven understanding of the Environmental Impact Assessment process within the UK planning process. 
  • Experience in managing, guiding and coordinating EIAs, including writing Screening and Scoping reports and the introductory sections of the Environmental Statement.  
  • Experience in reviewing topic specialism chapters (and technical appendices) of Environmental Statements. 
  • Strong analytical skills.  
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office and preparing reports in Word. 
  • Experience and success in the management and integration of multidisciplinary teams delivering EIA to time and budget.  
  • Ability to influence and build positive working relationships with an EIA team and wider project delivery team. 
  • Hold a full UK driving licence. 
  • Legal entitlement to work in the UK 
  • Member of IEMA  


Desired:  

  • Knowledge and experience in authoring topic specialism chapters for Environmental Statements or carrying out desk-top or field survey work to inform these.  
  • Knowledge and experience in authoring outline management plans such as CEMPs or LEMPs. 
  • Chartered status (such as IEMA or CIWEM). 
  • Capabilities in GIS/mapping. 
  • A relevant postgraduate degree or diploma. 
  • Experience of preparing client proposals, leading presentations to prospective clients, bidding/tendering for opportunities and strong commercial awareness. 
  • Ability to influence and build positive working relationships with project decision- makers, engineers and regulators, underpinned with commercial expertise. 


Salary and Benefits 

The position offers a competitive annual salary in the range of £30k to 40k per annum based on a 37.5hr working week, with the following benefits:

  • 23 days holiday allowance; and 
  • Performance-related bonus scheme. 


JCTR will consider proposals for flexible working, part-time hours and hybrid office/home working. 


JCTR is based in South Oxfordshire in an award-winning business park, which hosts an onsite gym, tennis court, yoga studio, café, meeting spaces, nursery and river access, all in beautifully landscaped grounds.
